R3 is a new easy-to-use open source controller launched in 2012. There is no major change in hardware. The big difference is that the USB-to-serial circuit part is replaced by an ATMega16U2 single-chip microcomputer, which also increases the cost. The software part is the same as before, with no major changes.

Main Features:
● Pin changes: Two I2C pins (SDA and SCL, only copies of Analog 4 and 5 are not additional I2C interface) are added beside the AREF pin. In addition, two pins are added beside RESET, one is IOREF It can make the expansion board adapt to the onboard voltage. This pin only tells the current onboard voltage of the expansion board (for example, UNO is 5V, which can be regarded as a copy of the power supply pin, and does not provide level pull-up) Stand-by pin.
● More stable RESET circuit. The position of the RESET button also changed, and it was moved to the corner of the board near the USB interface, making it easier to press.
● ATmega16U2 replaces 8U2, this does not mean that R3 with 16K flash can make your code run faster. This update is for the USB interface chip. In theory, it can simulate USB HID, such as MIDI / Joystick / Keyboard.
● Open the circuit diagram of the original design, download the development software interface for free, or modify it according to your needs. You can simply use sensors and various electronic components (such as: LED lights, buzzers, buttons, photoresistors, etc.) to make a variety of interesting works.
● Using high-speed micro-processing controller (ATMEGA328), the development operation interface and environment are very simple and easy to understand, very suitable for beginners to learn.
